Meet the team.
Meet the people building Synthaveil and the advisers helping us ask better questions.

Who decides what.
Our leadership team looks after the company’s direction, engineering and security. You can also read their work on the blog.

LEAD-01
Nonna Alomaja
Founder
Nonna founded Synthaveil and leads its direction.
Nonna has worked with AI products since 2017 and has taken multiple AI-enabled products from concept into production. Synthaveil grew out of a problem she encountered first-hand while building The Practitioner Portal that uses AI to help support practitioners with clinical content. How do you give an AI model enough context to do useful work without unnecessarily exposing the identity of the person behind that information?
It quickly became clear that this was not simply an AI problem, or even a healthcare problem.
Organisations already hold enormous amounts of valuable customer, employee and operational data. Increasingly, they want to use that information for AI, analytics, research, product development and entirely new services. The challenge is finding ways to make the data useful for those purposes without carrying more identifying information into the new use than is actually necessary.
That broader problem became the starting point for Synthaveil.
Nonna sets the standards for what the company will — and will not — claim. That is why Synthaveil uses precise language such as “pseudonymised” rather than reaching for stronger terminology that cannot be justified. It is also why its research, reports and legal materials are openly accessible rather than hidden behind email capture forms.
Her approach to information governance is also informed by previous experience as an NHS hospital Caldicott Guardian, a role carrying senior responsibility for protecting patient confidentiality and ensuring appropriate use of confidential information.

LEAD-02
Scott Wylie
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
Scott is the yin to Nonna’s yang. They share a belief that protecting people’s data shouldn’t mean putting useful work on hold. As Synthaveil’s co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Scott brings the engineering experience to help turn that belief into something businesses can use.
He helped design Synthaveil around a practical problem: how do you protect sensitive information while keeping it useful to the systems that need it? His work reaches into the details that make that possible, from keeping substitutions consistent to how security keys are handled.
Scott has spent his career delivering technology for enterprise organisations. At Synthaveil, that experience helps connect the mathematics behind the product with the everyday demands of running a business.

LEAD-03
Julien Boninfante
Chief Information Security Officer
Julien has spent more than twenty years working on a deceptively simple question: who should have access to what? In financial services, healthcare and transportation, the answer matters to people whose money, health and daily journeys depend on those systems.
His experience includes helping more than seventy enterprise clients put controls around their most powerful system accounts. He has also led teams responsible for infrastructure that needs to keep running around the clock. Security has to work in practice.
At Synthaveil, Julien brings that experience to reviewing our controls and the evidence behind them. He helps make sure what we say about the product matches what it can demonstrate.

Who checks us from outside.
Our advisers bring experience from travel and healthcare. They advise in a personal capacity; their employers are not endorsing Synthaveil.

ADV-01
Mark Skeggs
Director of Development · NousTravel
Mark is the person Nonna turns to when an idea sits outside the usual way of doing things. He will question whether it can be built, then give the problem the time and thought it deserves. Often, he comes back with a solution that surprises them both.
That willingness to challenge an idea and stay with it is what the team values in his advice. Mark brings many years of experience in technology and software development, along with a knack for finding a practical route through a difficult problem.

ADV-02
Laura Mattingly
Director of Finance Technology Modernization · Humana
Laura has spent twenty-five years moving large organisations onto new technology, as a chief information officer and now leading finance technology modernisation at Humana. Her work has run through healthcare and financial services: cloud migrations, security programmes, and the integrations that follow an acquisition — the same three places where data about real people gets handed to a system that has never held it before. She holds an MSc in Applied Information Technology from Bellarmine University, and she speaks on modernisation and cloud at industry conferences. She is the adviser who asks what a control costs the people who have to run it every day.
