Alias is the Synthaveil browser extension. Add names to your watchlist, swap them for stand-ins in a supported chat composer, and review the result before you press send.

ALS-01
The swap happens before you send
You type what you were going to type. The names change in the box, and you send it yourself.
The extension watches for the people, companies and places on your watchlist and replaces them in the composer. You see exactly what changed — real and stand-in, side by side — and you press send. There is no silent interception and no message sent on your behalf; the last action is always yours.
What stays your decision
It swaps what it can recognise. A nickname nobody added to the watchlist is a nickname that travels, which is why the popup shows you the swap list rather than a green tick.
ALS-02
The reply reads back in real names
The model answers about the stand-ins; you read the answer about the real people, in your browser, on your machine.
The reverse view replaces stand-ins in the reply locally. Another person opening the conversation on a different machine will still see the stand-ins. Review the remaining context: changing names alone cannot prevent someone recognising a person.

Local restoration depends on this browser’s mapping and on the supported chat page.
ALS-03
Know what reaches the API
In private mode only the matched names travel to the Synthaveil API — never the whole message.
In private mode, matched names are sent to the Synthaveil API for substitution; the full message is not sent there for analysis. Your browser keeps the watchlist and mapping, protected by your passphrase.
What stays your decision
We cannot recover a forgotten passphrase. Resetting removes the local watchlist and mapping.
Alias covers the chat composer. It is not a network filter, it does not watch other tabs, and it cannot help with a file you upload or a screenshot you paste. For documents, that is Cover.
